Beekeeping

2-Day Workshop

Get some hands-on experience with our resident bees and beekeeper. We'll discuss honeybee society, types of hives, hive parts, hive tools used, and beehive etiquette (do's and don'ts). The 2nd class includes a beehive visit!

 

We off this course twice a year.

Holistic Orchard Care

2-Day Course

This course provides an introduction to fruit tree selection, planting and care for backyard fruit trees or a small-scale orchard. The course includes hands-on pruning and training methods and details on pest management, propagation, and bare-root planting (winter only).

Farming 102:
Plant Families

Multi-Day Seasonal Course

Divided into cool and warm season plant families, this course will deepen your understanding and needs of individual plant families for an abundant harvest.

Learn types of soil certain families prefer, pest management, propagation techniques, history, cooking demo, and more!

Wild Weeds

4-Class Series

This is an introduction to the wild plants that are found in San Diego County. The focus will be centered around ethnobotany of plants, identification, harvesting, consumption of, and learning key characteristics and traits. It is not mandatory to take all 4 classes, but it is highly recommended to take at least the first class.
